Frequently asked questions about Massage Therapy (FAQ's)… 

What should I wear to my sessions?

            Wear comfortable clothing.

Will I have to undress for treatment?

           You and your therapist will decide what you are most comfortable with.  Massage can include skin on skin contact, or be done through clothing.  Gowns are available to change into as well.

How long are massage sessions?

            Sessions may be 15, 30, or 60 minutes in length.

Will I lie down or sit for treatment?

           Both a massage table and a special massage chair may be used for treatment.  Massage can also be performed in the rooms in the Health Care Center for residents who are bedridden.

Will my health insurance cover my sessions?

          Massage therapy does not require a doctor’s referral and is not covered under Medicare or other insurance plans.  Insurance only covers massage as part of a Physical or Occupational Therapy Plan when ordered by a physician for an acute condition.

How do I pay for services?

         Virginian residents can be billed for services on their monthly bill.  Community clients may pay at time of service by check.  We do not have the ability to take credit cards.  Gift certificates may also be purchased at the cashier’s office and in the Rehabilitation Department.
