The Virginian's Rehabilitation Department specializes in the treatment of seniors. A combination of our therapist's continuing education, interests, and treatment skills are focused on disorders more prevalent as one ages. Joint replacements, arthritis, stroke, Parkinson's Disease, and balance problems are among our specialties. Our Speech Therapists are all trained in programs to treat swallowing problems and have expertise in addressing cognitive declines that can occur with many age related and neurological conditions. Our therapists additional specialties and skilled treatments include age-related problems such as back and neck strains, traumatic knee injuries, and shoulder tendonitis. For individuals who are seeking Outpatient Services, our clinic is well staffed and offers flexible scheduling. Convenient and free parking is available right outside the Rehabilitation Department.

Our Physical Therapists are licensed and fully trained to care for the individual needs of our patients. The clinic provides treatment for both neurological and orthopedic problems and is fully equipped with specialized equipment to assist with your recovery. Physical Therapy Services include:

Occupational Therapy:

Our Occupational Therapists provide customized treatment programs that allow our patients to achieve their desired level of independence. Each program is specially designed to improve an individual's ability to perform daily activities as a result of a medical condition such as joint replacements, stroke, or Parkinson's Disease.

Speech and Swallowing Therapy

Our Speech Pathologists provide diagnostic and treatment services to individuals with speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. The Virginian is certified to offer VitalStim® and the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment Program®, both innovative therapy programs developed for the treatment of speech and swallowing disorders. The Virginian is one of the few facilities in Northern Virginian that is certified to offer these programs.
